They’re cute, they’re fluffy and they’re the best squad in town!
Meet ‘That Dood Squad’, a group of 7 Doodles and their moms who walk the streets of Atlanta in search for the best places to have photo-shoots, enjoy cocktails and brunch, shop, and explore with their pack of 14. Can you say #SQUADGOALS??
‘That Dood Squad’ meet when Kim McNamara and Stephanie arranged Atlanta Doodle meetups. With over 200 attendees, this group of 7 dogs seemed to get along and play with each other, and this was the start of the groups’ friendship. The members of this pawsome squad are:
- Kim McNamara (@kamcnamara) and her Sheepadoodle, Addie (@sheepish_addie)
- Stephanie (@steph_gold1) and her Goldendoodle, Charlie (@charliegoldthedoodle)
- Lauren (@lmelim) and her Goldendoodle, Packer (@letsgopaker)
- Shelby - their amazingly talented photographer - (@shelbyraephotographs) and her Goldendoodle, Lola (@misslolathegoldendoodle)
- Sara (@showard06) and her Cockapoo, Sheldon (@sheldonthedood)
- Jennifer and her Goldendoodle, Charlie (@quenchmyheart)
- Emily (@emilyannbennett2) and her Goldendoodle, Cedar (@doodleandthehound)
“We are sweet, persistent, and put our dogs before our boyfriends/husbands (whoops!)” Kim said. “Doods before dudes, right? Hey, we would love to go to that football game with you, but my dog said no.”
During these meetups, Kim said they joked about how “in a pawfect world we would be stay at home dog moms.” Soon they started meeting up at restaurants of their houses to hang out. They took to the streets to explore Atlanta to look for dog-friendly places, fun photo-op spots, and to experience all that their state has to offer including lavender fields, pumpkin patches and mountain vistas. They even began celebrating the Dood’s birthdays!
The Doodles and their moms have become best friends and now they schedule play-dates for the moms and their furry friends to hang out at least once a month!! They have taken amazing photos all over Atlanta, you may have seen their pictures in Kim’s Classic 1967 MGB.
The Doods have become celebrities in their community after being featured on the Weather Channel, local tv, on local magazine covers, styled wedding shoots, in viral videos, and even on Instagram Accounts, like Good Morning America! The Doodles even have worked with companies like Nordstrom, Brooks Brothers, Whole Foods, Sugarboo, and model for dog accessory companies, including Coco + Pistachio! The squad was even asked to be in a TV show in Nashville called ‘Pickler & Ben’!
When ‘That Dood Squad’ hits the streets of Atlanta, heads turn, traffic stops and cameras and phones are taken out all around them. Smiles are brought to everyone’s faces and everyone wants to come and see the Doods, who warmly greet everyone and give everyone tons of kisses. People are so happy to see the Doods, and the Doods love the attention! “The dog-eat-dog world in which humans live slips away for a moment,” Kim explained. “Folks ask about the breed types, their dispositions, the HAIR UPKEEP.” Fortunately, according to Kim, none of the Doods shed (thankfully LOL) which means they often have to be groomed. “Addie's hair is more expensive to keep up with than mine!!” Kim exclaimed.
When it comes time to have photoshoots, there is a lot of bloopers and behind the scenes action that takes place that people don’t see on their Instagram, @ThatDoodSquad. I mean, imagines trying to get 7 dogs to get in position and stay to get their picture taken! “‘STAY STAY STAY STAY STAY,’” Kim sad. “We are fairly confident that they all must think that "STAY' is their name. Or "NOOOOO, STAY!"
What ‘That Dood Squad’s’ Instagram followers don’t see is one Dood running around, locating, and ripping open a bag of dog treats to eat and another Dood running away with a prop and all of the girls laughing hysterically, Kim said.
"Honestly, the dogs are well-behaved, well-socialized, obedient,” Kim explained. “All have passed their CGC (Canine Good Citizens Test).” Kim talked about how the Doods know when it is time to work and all they expect in return is lots of treats, love, and playtime. Kim said that one thing the dog moms do to ensure that the Doods are calm when taking photos is they make sure they get a lot of exercise before it’s photo-shoot time so they are not as full of energy.
When the Doods aren’t having photoshoots and the girls aren’t brunching, Addie, Charlie, Packer and Sheldon, who are certified therapy dogs, like to visit hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and senior living facilities in order to bring smiles to people’s faces and make their days. The squad also liked to attend Camp Unleashed which is located up in the North Georgia Mountains, where they get to spend time with their dogs, learn, and the dogs get a mini vacation.
Make sure to check out all of their individual Instagrams (listed above) and their squad’s account, @ThatDoodSquad, so you can see the awesome photos they put together :)
